Selected Graphic Scribes
Graphic Scribing is the process of listening and visually recording conversations, presentations and community consultations.
It’s the process of transforming content into a visual output - that captures the voices in the room, synthesises complexity and sums up what was heard.
Graphic Scribing happens in real time and participants are able to see their voices being captured in pictures and words.
Maddison works digitally (iPad and screen) and also on paper and whiteboard to capture these conversations.
Selected clients include: The University of Melbourne, Telstra, Bupa, Next Wave, Yarra Youth Services, Price Waterhouse Coopers, KPMG, The Victorian State Government & The City of Sydney.

Essential Services Commission
Maddison worked with Renton and Co. for the Essential Services Commission to utilise Graphic Scribing to capture what was said during Community Engagement Sessions. These conversations were used to illustrate summary graphics for their final recommendations and to visualise key themes that came up in the community engagement sessions
Cities People Love
During Melbourne’s first lockdown, I was engaged to assist Cities People Love to design and implement a community engagement activity for the organisations launch.
For the engagement activity, participants were asked to respond to the prompt:
“I’d like to return to a city that...”
Over 150 participants from across the globe responded and each day for 10 days, I incorporated their responses into an illustration. The illustration evolved over this period, resulting in 10 focus areas which Cities People Love are exploring through their research based practice.
